Painting Courses

For both beginners and advanced, this course will allow you to learn the techniques of drawing, watercolour and oil painting in a fully equipped studio.
Chiaroscuro drawing technique: life drawing, perspective, portrait and figure.
Watercolour: basic skills for learning how to obtain the infinitive shades of colours, still life, figure and landscape.
Oil painting: allows you to apply the drawing and watercolour skills acquired and add the tactile quality of this technique.

Duration: 12 lessons of 2 hours
Attendance: weekly
Tuesday evening: 19.00 to 21.00
Wednesday morning: 9.30 to 11.30
Wednesday evening: 19.00 to 21.00
Thursday morning: 09.15 to 11.15
Thursday afternoon: 15.00 to 17.00 and 19.00 to 21.00

Art weekends

During the year, normally on weekends, we organise plein air painting and drawing classes and visits to the most important art exhibitions in Italy. Workshops are focused on the landscape study experimenting the techniques both of drawing and painting and will be taught by the artist Antonio Postacchini. The exhibitions to visit will be chosen for their specific teaching content of painting techniques.

For both beginners and advanced students, this course will be based at the Museo Morandi and/or at Collezioni Comunali di Arte Antica (City Ancient Art Collection).
While admiring Morandi’s works, under Antonio Postacchini’s guidance and with the help of pencil drawing and watercolour, we will try to capture the master’s chiaroscuro and his own distinct hues. Inside the rooms which host the Collezioni Comunali we will focus on the human figure and portraits.

Duration: 4 lessons of 2 hours

Engraving course

Etching, Drypoint and Soft ground.
This course is conceived for anyone wishing to learn or to improve the skills of etching, drypoint and soft ground.
These old traditional processes have already been applied during the Middle Ages for illustrating religious books and later during the Renaissance have become the main method to reproduce and divulge the Italian art masterpieces and, particularly with Rembrandt, turned into being expressive mediums of a work of art.
By virtue of Giorgio Morandi’s mastery, Bologna may be seen as one of the main centres of this art form which requires a big effort but gives amazing rewards.
With this course we aim to find out together all technical skills for obtaining zinc etching prints in a studio supplied with all necessary tools, including a printing press.

Duration: 10 lessons of 3 hours
